A shocking hit-and-run incident in Ampang has sparked outrage after a pedestrian was flung across the street, and left with severe injuries.

The hit-and-run incident occurred at around 8.19pm along Jalan Bunga Mawar in Taman Muda, when a car had hit over the victim before fleeing the scene.

The impact was so severe that the pedestrian was thrown onto the middle of the road, suffering serious injuries. In the video circulating online, no cars were seen stopping, despite the victim being on the ground.

Moments later, a man was seen running toward her from the left side, signaling for approaching cars to slow down to prevent her from being hit again. The victim was taken to Hospital Ampang for treatment.

Police launch manhunt for driver

A report of the hit-and-run was received by the police at 12:39 am, and according to Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid, the victim was crossing the road from the left towards the right when the accident occurred.

Authorities are now actively tracking down the driver involved in the crash, who failed to stop and render assistance.

Ampang Jaya police have urged the suspect to come forward immediately to assist with investigations.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless or reckless driving.
