“She’s not heavy, she’s my baby.” Those heartfelt words from a father have touched Malaysians after he carried his disabled daughter across the finish line of the 2026 Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon (KLSCM) on Saturday (Oct 3).

In a video shared on Threads, the father could be seen carrying his daughter, Dihan, in both arms as they approached the final stretch of the marathon. With a smile on his face, he held her close and crossed the finish line with her in his arms, while people nearby cheered loudly for the father-daughter pair.
The emotional moment also came shortly after Dihan turned 18, with her father using the occasion to send her a belated birthday message. “Dihan, my extraordinary angel child, happy belated 18th birthday,” he wrote.
He also wished everyone living with cerebral palsy a meaningful World Cerebral Palsy Day.
A father and daughter who keep running together
The father said in his post that life is about more than simply being alive, and that he wants to live his life fully alongside his “extraordinary angel child”.

According to his social media account, running events have become something the father and daughter regularly take part in together. From one event to another, the pair continue to accompany each other through different challenges, putting one foot in front of the other and sharing each milestone together.
Their latest KLSCM finish was another reminder that for this father, crossing the finish line is not simply about completing a race, it is about being there beside his daughter every step of the way.
