This program is designed to help elderly citizens living in poverty, ensuring they can maintain basic living standards and well-being. Check out the eligibility requirements and how to apply below.

BWE Eligibility Requirements

According to the Social Welfare Department (JKM), applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Malaysian citizens
  • Aged 60 years and above
  • Family income does not exceed the national poverty line (PGK)
  • Not residing in JKM institutions or free care centers
  • Priority is given to elderly individuals who live alone, have no children, or whose children are unable to provide support

How to Apply

1. Apply in person at JKM
Visit any Social Welfare Department office nationwide and fill out the JKM18 application form. Remember to bring all relevant documents.

2. Apply online via the official website :

Required Documents

  1. Copy of applicant’s MyKad
  2. Copy of MyKad / MyKid for all household members
  3. Income proof or payslip from employer
  4. For self-employed applicants: income proof issued by the village head, community leader, or local authority
  5. Or a sworn income declaration certified by a Pesuruhjaya Sumpah (for self-employed individuals)
  6. Copies of utility bills (electricity, water, phone) for address verification
  7. Latest bank statement or bank confirmation document
  8. Any other supporting documents (if required)

Each application will undergo a household economic assessment by JKM, and only qualified applicants will receive approval.

Benefits

Successful applicants will receive RM600 per month, which can be used for basic living expenses.
