A recent case of suspected abuse under Malaysia’s Budi95 programme has prompted government to take firm action, with the Finance Ministry warning that offenders risk having their cards frozen and access banned.
Fuel subsidy abuse case triggers card freeze

According to a video that has gone viral on social media, the individual was caught misusing the Budi95 programme by filling subsidised RON95 petrol into empty containers.
Govt to block the identity and vehicle linked to misuse
According to the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the woman involved in the viral incident is a Malaysian with a MyKad. From the video, the pair was seen filling subsidised RON95 petrol into a container placed in the boot of a vehicle.

Consequently, the ministry announced that it would suspend both the MyKad identification and the vehicle owner’s entitlement to prevent them from misusing the fuel subsidy.
MOF emphasized that the action taken was necessary to protect the transparency and integrity of the fuel subsidy system to ensure that the benefits reach eligible Malaysians fairly.
Zero tolerance on fuel subsidy abuse
The government has also emphasised that any form of subsidy leakage or abuse will not be tolerated, especially in the current climate of fluctuating fuel supplies and prices.
The ministry thanked members of the public who reported the incident and encouraged others to continue providing information on possible subsidy abuse.
