The H1 vehicle registration number has reportedly attracted a staggering RM10.7 million bid, putting the special Malaysia Day plate series in the spotlight even before the official bidding results are announced.

The H series, covering H1 to H9999, was opened for bidding through the JPJeBid system from Sept 16 to 20, with the results scheduled to be announced on Sept 21.

The reported RM10.7 million bid has drawn plenty of attention online, as it would far exceed previous headline-making number plate bids in Malaysia. However, the reported H1 figure should be distinguished from a confirmed successful purchase until JPJ officially releases the results.

Why is the H series special?

The letter H was chosen to represent “Harmoni” (harmony), reflecting the Malaysia Day theme of unity and harmony.

JPJ has also said the H series will be the final special registration series using a single alphabet letter. After this, the department will no longer introduce special plates consisting of a single letter.

That makes H1 particularly notable, combining a single-letter series with the highly sought-after number 1.

How does H1 compare with Malaysia’s previous record plates?

If the RM10.7 million H1 figure is confirmed, it would sit well above the previous major number plate records.

The earlier record for PATRIOT 1 was RM1.308 million, while FF 1 later reached RM1.2 million and FFF 1 surpassed that with RM1.75 million in 2024.

If the reported RM10.7 million H1 bid is officially confirmed, it would represent a dramatic jump from those previous records.
