A passenger was rescued after reportedly fainting and falling onto the tracks at Rapid KL’s Hang Tuah LRT station on Wednesday evening, causing a temporary disruption to train services.

According to Rapid KL, the incident happened at 6.36pm, when the passenger is believed to have fainted before losing balance and falling onto the tracks.

Quick rescue operation

Auxiliary Police officers stationed at the platform immediately responded to the emergency, while power to the tracks was temporarily switched off to allow rescue operations to be carried out safely.

The passenger was successfully brought out of the track area and given initial treatment at the station’s emergency room.

Train services resumed after 16 minutes

Following the rescue, safety inspections were conducted before train services on the Ampang and Sri Petaling lines resumed normal operations at 6.52pm, around 16 minutes after the incident.

Rapid KL did not disclose the passenger’s identity or medical condition, nor whether the individual was later taken to hospital.

The rail operator also reminded commuters to remain alert and follow station safety guidelines, adding that passenger safety remains its top priority.

Rapid KL reminded commuters to remain behind the safety line while waiting for trains and never enter the track area under any circumstances.

The operator also advised anyone who feels unwell, dizzy or uncomfortable while at a station to immediately seek assistance from station staff or Auxiliary Police officers so they can receive prompt help.
