replace mykad for free until oct 7 budi95

From September 23 to October 7, 2025, Malaysians can replace damaged MyKad for free at all National Registration Department (JPN) offices and counters.

This initiative ensures that every citizen can enjoy the benefits of the RON95 BUDI95 petrol subsidy without technical barriers.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that the free MyKad chip replacement initiative, available at all JPN offices and counters, is projected to cost the government around RM714,660.

He said recent statistics show an average of 43,000 applications for card replacements each month.

MADANI government to fully bear the replacement cost

“The government will absorb the full cost to ensure MyKad technical issues do not prevent eligible citizens from accessing Budi95 subsidies,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“The Madani government is guided by the principles of care and inclusivity, ensuring that no eligible citizen is left behind,” he added.

Through the MADANI Government, the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is committed to ensuring that the implementation of targeted subsidies runs smoothly, transparently, and remains people-centered.

How to know if your MyKad is damaged

  • When self-service kiosks or machines fail to read or scan your card.
  • When bank or government agency systems are unable to detect the data on your card.
  • When you need to scan your card multiple times before it works, indicating potential chip issues.
  • When your MyKad is physically damaged (e.g., scratched, cracked, or bent), which may affect the chip.
  • When your MyKad has been in use for too long, typically more than 10 years, increasing the risk of chip failure.

Saifuddin also reminded Malaysians to take proper care of their MyKad, emphasizing that it functions not only as proof of identity but also as a key to essential government services, Bernama reported.
