A fire scare allegedly broke out at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur this evening, with thick smoke reported inside the mall and its indoor parking area. Shoppers were seen being gradually evacuated from the premises.

Thick smoke emerges, shoppers evacuated
According to multiple posts shared by netizens on social media, smoke was seen near an area close to the cinema, which had its entrance temporarily closed. Several people claimed there was a strong smell of smoke, while others said the fire alarm had been triggered.

Photos and videos circulating online showed large crowds moving out of the mall, while the indoor car park was also filled with smoke. Many vehicles were seen attempting to leave the area at the same time.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the incident when contacted tonight by China Press. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene for inspection. However, no fire was found at the location. The spokesperson added that the smoke was traced to a restaurant within the mall.
