Age is just a number for one Malaysian senior who has impressed the internet after a video showed her lifting more than twice her body weight during a gym session.

The video, shared by Threads user ainasakina, showed the 66-year-old woman performing a 107.5kg conventional deadlift at a gym believed to be located in Kajang.
The clip quickly gained attention, collecting more than 5,000 views as viewers praised her strength and dedication.
Ahead of 98% female lifters her age and weight
In the video, the woman completed the one-rep lift using a mixed grip, lifting belt and without grip straps! The movement appeared controlled and steady, with the weight being lifted smoothly from the floor.
According to the post, the woman weighs 57kg and has been involved in strength training for six years. Based on StrengthLevel.com’s deadlift standards, the lift is considered an “elite level” performance, placing her ahead of around 98% of female lifters in the same age and weight category.

“Why stop lifting because of age?” message inspires others
The post also shared a message aimed at people who question why older adults continue lifting heavy weights.
“If people ask why we still want to lift heavy at this age, we do not need to explain, ladies. If our lives become easier to manage, we keep going,” the post read.
Many viewers said the video could encourage more older Malaysians to stay active and consider strength training.
Fitness experts often highlight that exercises such as deadlifts help train important muscle groups, including the glutes, hamstrings, back and grip strength. For older adults, maintaining muscle strength can support balance, bone health and daily activities, helping them remain more independent as they age.
