Malaysia’s wushu athletes have carved their names into the nation’s sporting history, finishing third overall at the 17th World Wushu Championships 2025 in Brasília, Brazil with their best result to date. The team collected an impressive 5 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, a historic milestone in Malaysia’s Wushu journey.

A golden finale at the wushu championships
The campaign reached its crowning moment on Sept 7, when the women’s duilian trio of Lee Jia Rong, Pan Pui Yee, and Tan Cheong Min delivered a flawless performance, scoring 9.630 to secure Malaysia’s fifth gold. The victory not only closed out the tournament in style but also underscored the country’s rising strength in wushu’s global arena.

Apart from the golds, Malaysia also secured one silver and two bronze medals, underscoring the squad’s depth and consistency. According to Wushu Federation of Malaysia, one of the highlights was the men’s duilian team of Clement Ting Su Wei, Si Shin Peng and Bryan Ti Kai Jie, who delivered a spirited performance to earn 9.613 in the final.
In a nail-biting contest, Macau (MAC) and Hong Kong (HKG) both posted identical scores of 9.620 to claim gold and silver, leaving Malaysia just behind in third. Nevertheless, the result was a proud achievement for the men’s squad and further proof that Malaysia continues to shine on the world wushu stage.
