Local travel enthusiast and volunteer rescuer Alez Ander, who has been assisting Malaysian tourists stranded in Hat Yai hotels, shared on social media that he managed to arrange rescue boats through local contacts. However, upon arrival certain guests refused to board, reportedly saying,
“My hotel is booked until tomorrow.”

Alez expressed his disbelief at the decision, emphasizing that given the severity of the flooding, early evacuation was critical. With the individuals unwilling to leave, the rescue team eventually withdrew to focus on those in more urgent need.
