A Facebook user posted in a Facebook group to warn other landlords of a ‘tenant from hell’ who escaped paying rent for nearly two years and left the house like a complete pigsty when evicted.

The house was rented out to a married couple in Taman Melati, Setapak starting from March 13, 2023. In the beginning, rent payments were made on time without any delays. However, from January 2024 onwards, rental and utility bills became overdue and has since accumulated to several thousand ringgit.

Tenants ghosted landlord when asked to move out

The landlord and her husband had asked the couple to vacate the house amicably, but calls and messages went unanswered. On Dec 1, 2025, the landlord and her mother visited the house. After knocking multiple times with no response, they used a spare key to enter and found the woman’s husband inside. They spoke to him calmly and requested that the couple move out if they were no longer able to pay the rent.

On Dec 7, 2025, a partial rent payment was received, and the female tenant promised to settle the remaining balance by Dec 24, 2025. However, the tenants initiated no further communication and did not make the promised payment. Same as before, all calls and messages from the landlord were left unanswered.

The landlord’s last message to the woman, sent on Jan 12, 2026, informed her that a final inspection would be carried out and expressed hope that the property had already been vacated.

When the landlord and her husband visited the house on Jan 13, 2026 to inspect its condition, they found that the couple had moved out. However, the property was left in a severely neglected state, as shown in the photos — resembling a rubbish dump, with piles of used baby diapers, cigarette butts scattered throughout the house, and leftover packaged drinks (‘ikat tepi’) left undisposed.

The landlord shared this account as a cautionary note should the couple be seeking to rent another property.

Not the tenant’s first rodeo

A commenter mentioned that they had the same experience with the same tenant.

She rented with me before at Block C, definitely the type of person who wants to stay for free.
