Grab Malaysia has introduced a new feature called “Women-Only Rides” aimed at improving safety and comfort for women passengers. This service allows female passengers to be matched exclusively with female drivers, creating a more secure travel experience.
Highlighting Grab’s commitment to women’s safety

The feature is currently undergoing a beta programme and is limited to Klang Valley area. Women users can schedule a ride ahead of time and be paired with a verified female driver through the app’s “Advance Booking” function.
It was introduced in response to the increasing safety concerns for women who are using Grab for their daily needs. By matching only female drivers with female passengers, the app aims to overcome safety concerns for women who are traveling alone, especially late at night or for long distances.
In conjuction with International Women’s Day
Grab launched the trial in conjunction with International Women’s Day, reflecting its dedication to empower women and ensure their safety.
In addition to provide safer options for women to travel, Grab also introduced Women Driver Acquisition campaign to encourage more women to be its driver partners. This campaign aims to increase the number of female drivers while offering more income opportunities for them.
The campaign runs from 8 March to 30 September 2026, and new female drivers may receive rewards worth up to RM100,000, including fuel vouchers and other incentives.
A step toward safety travel
To use this feature, female users are required to complete a one-time identity verification process on the app. This requires submitting identification documents (such as a Malaysian ID card or passport) and a selfie.
The system will cross-check the information with official records to confirm the user’s gender. Only after verification, the option will appear in the female passenger’s account to ensure the service is used as intended.
