Meta has officially introduced paid subscription plans for its biggest platforms (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp), marking one of the company’s biggest shifts away from its long-standing “free-to-use” model.
What will users have to pay?

The new subscription services, called Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus, were announced by Meta’s Head of Product Naomi Gleit through a social media post.
The move comes as Meta faces increasing pressure to generate new revenue streams while spending billions on artificial intelligence (AI) development and massive data center expansion.
According to Malay Mail, Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus will cost US$3.99 per month each, while WhatsApp Plus will be priced at US$2.99 monthly.
What extra features are included?
The paid versions are expected to unlock several premium tools and customization features.
Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus may include:
- Better analytics and engagement insights
- Story rewatch statistics
- Wider audience reach
- Profile customization tools

Meanwhile, WhatsApp Plus focuses more on personalization, offering:
- Premium stickers
- Custom app themes
- Personalized ringtones
Meta also revealed plans to eventually combine its various subscriptions under a single ecosystem called “Meta One”.
