In a heartfelt post on social media, Izakaya Japanese restaurant at ICOM Square is mourning the loss of one of its longest-serving staff, who passed away yesterday morning.
More than a colleague, a backbone of the team

According to the tribute, the restaurant shared that he had dedicated many years of service as a trusted assistant to the Head Chef, becoming a familiar and valued presence in the kitchen. Over time, he grew into a cornerstone of the restaurant’s daily operations, admired by colleagues for his reliability, warmth, and constant willingness to lend a helping hand. To many, he was more than just a coworker, but part of the Izakaya family.
During his years with the team, he helped prepare meals for distinguished guests, including Sarawak Governors, Chief Ministers, and various prestigious events.
The restaurant added that his craftsmanship, pride, and passion could always be felt in every dish that left the kitchen.

Remembered for his kindness and humility
Beyond his culinary contributions, Izakaya Restaurant mentioned that he will be remembered for his humble nature, kind heart, and the joy he brought to the team each day.
While his passing leaves a profound void, his legacy continues to live on in the standards of excellence he helped build. The Izakaya family expresses deep gratitude for his years of dedication and service.
Following the post, a handful of the comments questioned the eatery for authenticity as they did not review details of the man, to which they responded to saying that they chose to honour him while keeping his identity private out of respect for his family.
