Even after her passing, Normah Sabar, widely recognised as Malaysia’s first female surveyor, continues to leave a lasting impact on the lives of others.

The 72-year-old was declared brain-dead at Hospital Sungai Buloh and passed away on Saturday (June 21). In accordance with her wishes, her family agreed to proceed with organ and tissue donation the following day, allowing her to help others in need one final time.
Hospital Sungai Buloh holds Walk of Honour for organ donor
According to the hospital, Normah’s donated organs and tissues have benefited at least five recipients, offering them a second chance at life and hope for the future.
Before the organ retrieval procedure took place, Hospital Sungai Buloh paid tribute to Normah through a “Walk of Honour”, a ceremony held to recognise organ donors for their selfless contribution.
During the tribute, healthcare workers lined the hospital corridors as she was wheeled through, paying their respects to a woman whose generosity would continue to touch lives long after her passing.
The hospital said Normah’s final wish was made possible by her family, who honoured her decision to become an organ donor after her brain death was certified.

Beyond her groundbreaking achievements as Malaysia’s first female surveyor, Normah was remembered as someone who dedicated her life to public service and education.
In a statement, Malaysia’s Department of Survey and Mapping (JUPEM) confirmed that she passed away at 5.20pm on Saturday and extended its condolences to her loved ones.
While Normah is being remembered for breaking barriers in her profession, many online have also been moved by her final act of kindness.
