Public Bank customers using the MyPB mobile banking app should make sure that the operating systems on their gadgets are updated since the bank will impose stricter conditions related to security.

According to official announcements, the bank is gradually moving toward higher system standards to maintain a safer and smoother app performance.

Devices that fail to meet these requirements will no longer be able to access the app once the changes take effect.

iOS 15 support ending in September 2026

One of the most significant updates confirmed by Public Bank is that iOS 15 will no longer be supported starting 1 September 2026.

For those iPhone users who can only use the MyPB app up to iOS 15, they will not be able to continue using the app after the deadline.

The bank has advised customers to check their device compatibility early and update their operating systems to avoid service disruption.

Android and iOS minimum requirements

In addition to the iOS 15 phase-out, Public Bank has also been moving toward stricter device requirements overall:

  • Android 12 and above
  • iOS 16 and above

Public Bank is advising customers to check their devices’ OS and update it to the latest version:

  • Android: Setting > System > System Update or Software Update
  • iOS: Setting > General > Software Update
  • Huawei: Setting > System & Update > Software Update

If your device is already running the required Android/iOS version or higher, no action is required.

This shift means older devices especially phones that no longer receive software updates may no longer support mobile banking services in the future.

Why this matters

There has been an increased focus on securing apps due to the rise in vulnerabilities with outdated operating systems among financial institutions around the world.

With the discontinuation of older operating systems, banks can remain:

  • More secure against malware and phishing attacks
  • Optimised for faster and smoother transactions
